- It is one of the first plants to colonize riverbanks, glacial moraines, and recently deglaciated terrain.
- The Inuit people traditionally eat the young leaves raw or cooked and use the plant as a source of vitamins.
- Unlike its taller relative fireweed, Dwarf Fireweed has proportionally much larger flowers relative to its plant size.
